History
The
Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce traces
its heritage back to the organizational meeting
for the Williamsport Board of Trade on Tuesday
December 15th, 1885. Emanuel Andrews, Esquire,
was elected as the first Chairman of this newly
founded organization. In 1923, the name was
changed to the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce.
Subsequent names changes occurred in 1956 when
it became the Greater Williamsport Chamber of
Commerce and in 1975 it again changed to our
current name, the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber
of Commerce.
The
Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce is a
founding member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
It is a 30-year accredited Chamber of Commerce,
one of only a few in the country with that
distinction. |
