Leadership Lycoming

Purpose:  To understand the needs of the communities it serves, then educate and motivate potential leaders to commit themselves to address those needs through a variety of community leadership roles. 

Action Items:

New…Develop job descriptions for Officers of the Leadership Lycoming Board of Trustees and Committee Chairs outlining specific job tasks and committee responsibilities.

New…Explore the possibilities of creating a new design layout for the organization’s website, www.leadershiplycoming.org.  

New...Revise application to include time commitment for the program.

New...Recruit new Community Advisors and provide Team Captains with a communication tool to aid in a more structured meeting time and enhance class attendance.

New…Solicit business and community agencies which have not participated in Leadership Lycoming in the past 10 years.

New…Develop a new marketing plan for the Community Insights Program by updating the existing contact list for direct mail/phone solicitation and change advertising materials to include testimonials from past attendees.

New...Work with the Alumni Committee to update the online alumni directory/database.

...Continue to identify and encourage a wider range and more diverse group of participants with a goal of thirty applicants for 2009.

....Utilize the Chamber Connection to promote and educate the community about Leadership Lycoming programs through current participant articles. 

...Complete the 2007-2008 Program Year including an Opening Retreat, 8 Program Seminars, a Closing Session and Graduation.

...Work with the Curriculum Committee to implement at least one leadership training skill into every program day.

…Continue to develop a Community Project aligned with Leadership Lycoming's mission to help participants understand the value of community leadership. This project will replace the class Economic Development Project.  

...Continue to work with the Curriculum Committees to explore additional ways to join with Youth Leadership Lycoming for joint program days and special events.

...Develop an active Alumni Committee to plan and organize alumni gatherings and networking opportunities.

...Hold the Community Insights Program in early spring prior to the April 15th Leadership application deadline with a goal of twenty attendees.

...Hold two Community Advisor Receptions to enhance network opportunity for all program participants, Community Advisors and Leadership Lycoming Board of Trustees.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP LYCOMING

Action Items:

New…Create awareness of the Youth Leadership Lycoming program by conducting school visitations, updating school district administrators and utilizing alumni to promote the program at other community service events.  

...Conduct the sixth year of the Youth Leadership program.

...Seek out new and increased funding sources for the Youth Leadership program.    

...Look for opportunities to work with Youth Leadership Alumni.

...Continue to survey the Youth Leadership Alumni one year after they graduate to gather information to measure outcomes.
