Welcome Newcomers and Welcome Wagon merged in 1981 to form one club with a single purpose...to bring together women new to the Williamsport area and make them feel welcome in their new surroundings.  The Welcome Newcomers club also undertakes and promotes volunteerism and humanitarian projects within the community.

Welcome Newcomers offers a variety of activities to help you feel at home here in Williamsport.  Our monthly newsletter details each months events and gives you an idea of what's to come.

We hold monthly General Meetings which feature a multitude of programs  including speakers who will introduce you to other organizations and important information about our area.  Moms and Tots meet weekly, at a member's house or other child friendly locations throughout town to give the kids time to play, craft, etc., while Mom's get a chance to do something other than the laundry.  Koffee Klatch meets monthly at a member's home and offers coffee, conversation and friendship for those whose children are at school, live away from home or have no children.  KK also meets for breakfast one a month at local restaurants.  Arts and Crafts meets during the day or evening to complete simple projects and have fun.  Past projects have included dried flower wreaths, stamping and Swedish embroidery.  Ladies Day Out offers a range of outings from sightseeing to shopping and almost always dining.

Not all of our activities are limited to women...Dinner Club and Socials are held on Saturday evenings and our husbands or significant others are invited.  Dinner Club allows us to try new menus in a relaxed atmosphere among friends.  Socials provide us with lots of fun on what otherwise might be a dull Saturday evening.  T.G.I.F. (Thank Goodness It's Friday) is fun night!  This social event is held once a month on a Friday night.  The host family opens their home and the members attending bring the appetizers to share and their own beverages.  Men's Poker meets monthly on Friday nights at a member's home to share an evening of cards.  Each man brings a snack and beverage. 

Most importantly, Welcome Newcomers is here for YOU!  Helping you through the transition of settling into your new community.  From a Helping Hand through our  Sunshine Committee in times of need, to learning about new doctors and hairdressers.  We currently have over 70 members and look forward to extending the hand of friendship to you.  Our hope is that we will make Williamsport seem not so far from home, but more like home to you.
