The Lycoming County Brownfield Inventory & Assessment Project is an economic development initiative authorized by the Lycoming County Commissioners and includes collaboration with the business community, elected officials, agencies, and citizens of Lycoming County. This project is directed by staff from the Lycoming County Planning & Community Development Department, Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, and Industrial Properties Corporation. Technical support is supplied by the consulting team of MACTEC and Larson Design Group. This project commenced on June 18, 2007.

Through community involvement, a comprehensive list of brownfield sites will be developed, with special interest at those sites located in the growth corridors of Lycoming County. These sites will receive technical assessment and ranking. 

The outcome of this project is to identify strategically-located real estate that can be redeveloped in a manner that will create jobs, increase real property tax base, eliminate health risks, and improve the visual appeal of neighborhoods in Lycoming County.
